HISTORY

In 1976, Bulkfleet Marine Corporation, predecessor to Signet Maritime Corporation, was founded by Mr. Snyder. Bulkfleet designed, constructed and operated the first 30,000 deadweight ton heavy-fuel 8,000 horsepower tug/barge units. Bulkfleet expanded its SIGNET operations into the Signet group of shipping, intermodal and harbor docking companies engaged in bulk petroleum distribution, inland towing, rig and energy support and ship management.

Bulkfleet consolidated into Signet Maritime in 1984 which provided for the expansion into ocean towing and intermodal services. Signet's purchase of Ocean Transportation Services from Foss Maritime in the same year gave Signet break-bulk and project cargo capabilities. The merger of Bulkfleet and its subsidiaries into Signet allowed the company to focus its core technology competence within the maritime field.

In 1999, the company purchased the Gulf of Mexico to South America shipping business from Sea Freight Companies which gave Signet the capacity to move project cargoes and break-bulk materials in modern ocean vessels worldwide. In 2003, Signet purchased Garrett Marine, Inc., which significantly increased the company's presence in Ingleside/ Aransas Pass utilizing Garrett's three tugs.

In June 2010, Signet acquired Colle Towing Company, Inc. in Pascagoula, Mississippi adding a full service Shipyard, Signet Shipbuilding & Repair, offshore energy support and barge transport and LNG operations center.
